Description

Migaku Development Cycles Migaku develops add-ons in 6-month development cycles. For the duration of a development cycle, add-ons are designed for the latest stable version of Anki that was available at the beginning of that cycle. At the end of a development cycle, all Migaku add-ons are upgraded to the latest stable version of Anki. Please note that development of the new updated versions of the add-ons begins at the end of the current cycle, once all Add-ons have been updated the new cycle then begins. Why Migaku uses a Development Cycle: ● By not needing to constantly update add-ons each time a new version of Anki is released, we’re better able to stay focused on new projects. ● When everyone is using the same version of Anki and the same version of the add-ons, bug fixing can proceed more efficiently. ● Because users only have to update their set-up once every 6 months, they can more easily stay focused on their studies. ● We surveyed our users and found that the vast majority approved of a 6-month development cycle. Current Cycle Details: Anki Version: Anki 2.1.22 (Windows and Linux), Anki 2.1.23 (macOS) [The “alternate” variants are for 32-bit systems] Start Date: April 6th, 2020 Development on New Add-on Versions Begins: October 6th, 2020 Development has started and the Migaku Add-on Series is in the process of being updated to Anki 2.1.35! Make sure you're subscribed to my YouTube channel, as I will announce the update releases there, along with any updating instructions. About the Add-on Migaku Editor is an Anki add-on that makes it quicker and easier to edit cards while reviewing. It comes with two main features: In-place Editing and a Persistent Editor Window. With In-place Editing, you can edit cards while reviewing without having to open up a separate editor window. Simply double-click the field you want to edit and make changes directly on the card. If you prefer editing cards in a separate window, the Persistent Editor Window allows you to do so more efficiently. Once opened, the Persistent Editor Window will remain open until manually closed. As you review, the current card is automatically loaded into the editor, and any changes made are instantly reflected in the reviewer. While a card’s frontside is being displayed in the reviewer, all fields in the editor are automatically hidden, guaranteeing the backside of the card isn’t prematurely revealed. Why Migaku Editor? When using Anki to learn languages, tools such as Subs2srs and MorphMan can save you time by allowing you to automate the card creation process. The only issue is that many cards created through automation end up containing small errors or things that need to be tweaked. With the Migaku Editor, you can quickly fix these things on the fly while reviewing, further streamlining the card creation process. Can't disable the pop-up due to its size
Comment from author
Yeah, I realize this problem now! My bad, the intent was that everyone could disable the popup after a single time. I will push a fix soon.

Please show some maturity and remove the annoying announcement that pops up every time I log into Anki. I don't remember asking to be involved in this Youtube drama. Will update this review once that changes. Thanks.
Comment from author
The mature thing would have been for Matt vs. Japan not to threaten me, steal from me and try to bully me, and to just accept mediation one of the many times I suggested it. I am the developer of the add-ons, they are my main way to reach out to my supporters about what's happening in my life. My supporters are the reason the add-ons even exist and they've made it very clear that they were happy I shared what had been going on with them. Also anything I have done, pails in comparison with Matt vs. Japan's bullying, threats, and theft. Feel free to uninstall the add-on my friend, I will use my platform to stand up for principles I believe in time and time again.

Also, there is a checkbox at the bottom of the box to disable the popup...

Essential resource for optimizing language-learning workflow.

dude needs to grow up. rebrand yourself fine, explain yourself in a video fine. do it in a way that doesn't make yourself look like a petty man child. Be grateful for the exposure your former partner gave you and then go your separate ways.

both versions of the add on are very useful though, just downvoting the manchilds video.
Comment from author
In contrast I'm sure you would do nothing when someone attempts to bully you and your family. Sorry I won't stand for that shit without protest, particularly when MIA would never even have been a thing without me introducing Matt to my thoughts on immersion learning, and my future plans.

Using this addon as a way to spam your negative views of Matt is despicable, no matter if it's true or not.

I apologize for the inconvenience but I had to reach out to my supporters.

I love your add-on's they are truly amazing and I will continue to support your work. I just want to update my review to say that I don't approve of the way you handled your conflict with Matt. These kind of conflicts should be handled in private and there is no reason to create any unnecessary drama. Blaming and breading your business partner and the old brand is not how you should separate. It seems that the truth is that that partnership wasn't working out for either side. Your differences made working together difficult and as such there is no shame in leaving: it sounds like it will be for the best for both of you. There is no need to trash your partner. I believe that both you and Matt have a lot to bring to the language learning community and I am excited to see all the things that you do now as you continue on a different path.

Very useful concept and when it works well it's great, however, I keep finding cards with fields that have been mixed up with other cards randomly dispersed throughout my deck. I believe this addon to be responsible. I don't know the conditions under which it occurs but without a doubt it has been happening quite often. It seems at least one of my daily new 22 cards has been mixed up. I hope it isn't ruining my older cards as well. I guess I'll have to disable the addon until it is fixed.

When displaying a card in the browser, if I click on "cards", the first field is modified to the content of another (random?) card from the same deck.
I'm using anki 2.1.22 (updated today). This behavior does not occur with the add-on off.

Note: the instructions of the rating section are asking to contact the author in case of issues instead of doing it in the review, however, the contact the author button redirects to a page asking for money. I'm obviously not going to do that.

A very good add-on overall thanks matt and yoga.
But I have a problem with the design choice on empty fields, that empty element with borders really messes with my cards both aesthetically and functionally. Maybe implement it in such a way that you can't see it unless you double-click or the mouse is near it?

Hi. Beginner here. When trying to install this I get the error 1051095155: Invalid code, or add-on not available for your version of Anki. I am running Version 2.1.26 (arch-linux-2.1.26-1) Python 3.8.3 Qt 5.15.0 PyQt 5.15.0. Please help. Looks like a great add-on. Many thanks.

Later edit: Just noticed this now: 51 2020-06-17 <=2.1.23. It looks like I have 2.1.26 so that is why is probably not working. Any idea how to best fix this please?

Last edit: Thanks for the answer. Looking forward to the next cycle.

The add-on is not available for that Anki version, if you would like to use it please ensure you are using the appropriate Anki version.

I don't wanna give this a thumbs down but I do have an issue:

I wrap the text of my cards with the following code:

.card {
max-width: 400px;
}

When I click to edit the card, it removes the wrapping so that the text goes off the edge of the screen.

Would it be possible to fix this? Thank you for making this addon!

All in all its definitely a cool addon, but for some reason, MIA addons all seem to hate my note types. I get weird bugs with some of their addons. I found I could get this addon working If I moved the javascript to the end of the HTML on my note types but for some, I can't get it working at all. also you can't set attribute names to fields with this addon, for instance,

<iframe src="{{FieldName}}></iframe> will not display correctly. When it works however its fantastic, especially when dealing with furigana however bear in mind if your note types have any complex javascript then there is a good chance that they will conflict with this addon. I have a few note types that don't display properly with this addon installed.

Great addon! Works well in 2.1.23. But in. 23 I can't sort by tags, so I had to up to 2.1.26 and sorting by tags works again. but sadly MIA editor doesn't. I hope you will find some time to update this version! thanks!! Best
on 1592310858
This add-on should honestly be incorporated into Anki itself.
It's a massive improvement over the default editor. It makes editing cards that much quicker and less annoying to do. It literally has no downside.

The developers are also very responsive. They fixed an annoying (but not core-functionality breaking) bug in under a week since it was reported.

Great work! However, I had to upgrade to Anki 2.1.22 and now MIA Dictionary doesn't work... It seems MIA Dictionary requires Anki 2.1.16 or earlier. Guidance would be appreciated.
EDIT: Many thanks! Excellent work!

Uninstall the add-on and then reinstall through the code. Anki's updating process does not take into account changing from an one version of the add-on to another, it only keeps you updated within the currently installed branch. Anyways deletion and re-installation will fix your issue. Glad you like the add-on!

Apart from 1 small bug I found, I gotta say, I love this addon. It adds so much functionality its relatively small download size.

The bug being: The MIA Recognition RTK deck displays 4 different kanji fonts on the front and back of the card. On the front all kanji are aligned in the center. After installing this addon, on the back the kanji are aligned to the left.

Is there any way to have this addon work combined with the other in-line editor?
https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/1020366288

I prefer that one because it has single click to edit, and doesn't show a red box on blank fields. I don't always fill every field on my cards, so having the red box appear is pretty awful looking. The MIA Editor doesn't seem to have a way to add content to fields without keeping the red box on. I already wrote my own indicator of where my blank fields are using HTML/CSS code, so I already know where to type at, and it disappears once filled.

I mostly like the Persistent Editor window, and would love to have that as its own separate Anki addon. I tried using both the MIA and other author's Edit Field During Review addon and that didn't work out.
Comment from author
Please reference the guide, you can already turn off in-place editing and empty field display as is. That other add-on works in a fundamentally different way programmatically than ours does, and we have no current plans to use its one click functionality as it would interfere with the functionality of some of our other add-ons. Thanks for the feeback, cheers.

Comment from author
We were made aware of this add-on after our beta-launch, and although outwardly similar, they function differently at the code level. That add-on allows you to edit your fields as they appear and does not load the actual field contents as you would see them in the default editor. This means that it would never be compatible with our MIA Japanese add-on or any other add-ons that use javascript to affect your fields. So outwardly yes it could be seen as an improved version of that add-on but anyone who knows code and references the source code will see it functions categorically differently and is of a lot greater complexity.
