Really good!

Warning: for those looking to learn Simplifed make sure you change the "styling " card so it shows you the simplified portion of the Hanzi rather than the traditional. Thankfully I noticed early enough but I was accidentally learning traditional characters instead. Other than that I find it a great because it has audio with sentence so it makes learning easier. Thank you for this, looking forward for more of your work and if I could I would donate as well.

Hi~ Great deck.
I can't go to your website "understandchinese.com" because it has security problems. The certificate is for Papi.net and another site with the word papi. I guess a malware or corn site. I just checked your dev site and it's also redirecting. Looks like you didn't renew the domain. Please give us another way to contact you and continue your deck making. It's a great deck, you could make some zennies out of this. Good luck to you anyway.

Great content for beginners. Makes it easy to learn to recognize characters.

amazing :)

Amazing deck, it has worked really well for me. After changing the Hanzi to simplified and some of the audios around, this was perfect for me.

This deck is awesome - I'm trying to learn both traditional and simplified and this deck has been the best because it has audio, images, and sentences in addition to traditional and simplified characters. It has helped expedite my improvement in speaking and memorizing. Thank you so much! It's also super easy to customize the layout and format of the deck (along with switching any mismatched audio).
on
nice set, and kudos to the author who posted the corrections, that's pretty cool
now that I have worked more with the set, I really appreciate the formatting and the way the information is presented on the card - I feel it supports my learning, and I like to dwell on the individual cards, since I find them entertaining (for lack of the right word)
we all noted some small inconsistencies, like mismatch of sentence audio between some cards, but I have come to think of it differently:
- it is a bit like the game memory, you discover the small mismatches, and you copy / paste between the cards to remove those mismatches
- it's a sign you are progressing in confidence and knowledge
- it is easy in Anki to "correct" a card while reviewing, so if you notice that yifu is where yiyuan should be, copy the audio to a clipboard, and wait for the other card to show up and paste the right audio or whatever
- ok, we know this what not the intention of the authors, but I wonder if more sets should not be built on the principle of introducing memory card like mix ups that the learner has to correct --> it is more interactive, which probably creates a better memory imprint in the learner
- here I just want to summarize that this deck is really well made, and don't fret about the small mismatchtes, just correct them in your set and see it for what it is: you have made progress.

It's very hard to find beginner material with taiwanese accent this deck has that and you can tell was made with care
on
I'm really glad the speaker has a Taiwanese accent, it's difficult to find good listening material for beginners learning Taiwanese Mandarin.
Another commenter mentioned that sentence audio is misaligned. Here's the changes I made to my deck to fix that.
You have to manually change each card. Search for the cards using the syntax WordTraditional:<keyword>, for example WordTraditional:媽媽
Note that there is no space between "WordTraditional:" and the keyword.
Search for each WordTraditional in this list then make the changes to the fields listed here.
This is an audio file without a home, it says "I'm hungry"
SentenceAudio: [sound:Sentence60.mp3]
SentenceTraditional: 我肚子餓了
59
WordTraditional:媽媽
WordAudio: [sound:Word60_1542834338.mp3]
SentenceAudio: [sound:Sentence60.mp3]
60
WordTraditional:嗎
WordAudio: [sound:Word59_1542834338.mp3]
SentenceAudio: [sound:Sentence61.mp3]
61
WordTraditional:買
SentenceAudio: [sound:Sentence62.mp3]
62

63 - two audio audio clips create a dialogue for this card

SentenceAudio: [sound:Sentence66.mp3]
65
WordTraditional:米飯
SentenceAudio: [sound:Sentence67.mp3]
66
WordTraditional:名字
SentenceAudio: [sound:Sentence68.mp3]

75
WordTraditional:女兒
SentenceAudio: [sound:Sentence77.mp3]
76
WordTraditional:朋友
SentenceAudio: [sound:Sentence78.mp3]
I could not find the SentenceAudio for these cards so I borrowed other example sentences that contain the keyword
77

SentenceAudio: [sound:Sentence54.mp3]
SentenceTraditional: 他的老師很漂亮
SentenceSimplified: 他的老师很漂亮

Thank you for the kind words and for spending the time to mark the errors :) This is really encouraging. We knew about this already but now I think we'll re-upload after fixing these and link to the new deck here (there's no way to replace the deck once it's been shared).

Amazing!

this deck is exactly what I was looking for! The hard work that went into making this is evident

The best HSK 1 anki deck
on
Nice HSK 1 set, but unfortunately the sentence audio is wrong for all words between Word59 and Word79
on
Clean, complete and rich in detail
on
Excellent !

Very useful deck. Thanks for sharing. I noticed that in some cases, only the traditional character is being showed, for example, erzi and gāoxing. I'd like to hide traditional or at least have it secondary. I don't know if it's possible
on
That is really wonderful for beginners. I'm so grateful for sharing.
on
Very nice, i like the audio with full sentence and images to help with memorization, thanks a lot.
on
Great thanks a lot!!! As mentioned above, a few mix in the audio, if you want I can note them and send them to you, let me know. But overall very nice and very useful to have the pronunciation. Let me know if you do the same for HSK2 !
on
Love the zhuyin; that's what I learned to read chinese phonetics in, so it is nice when I come across resources with zhuyin and not just pinyin.
There were a few cards that had the wrong sentence/word audio, so I had to play mix and match to get all of the audio files to properly line up. Overall though, great deck. Thanks!
on
I rated it by a thumb up but I noticed that many characters that are used in the example sentences are different from what I already knew. Perhaps these are traditional ones ? It would have been way better if they were simplified. Anyway, thanks a lot for this valuable effort.
Comment from author
Thanks =) They were probably traditional. The deck contains both and lets you choose if you edit the card styles. Hope this helps and cheers!
on
really useful!
is there any way of hiding the traditional script? i dont wanna get confussed w the traditional, and i dont know what CSS is
Comment from author
Thanks! CSS is the styling system Anki uses and unfortunately you have to go through it to make any changes.
To switch off Traditional and enable Simplified do this:
1. Start reviewing the deck
2. Click Edit (bottom left) -> Cards (top) -> Styling (checkbox next to Front Templates and Back Templates)
3. In the big text area below change "display: block;" to "display: none;" next to ".traditional" (second line). This will hide traditional characters.
4. In the same text area change "display: none;" to "display: block;" next to ".simplified" (first line). This will show simplified characters.
Hope this helps :)
