This add-on allows you to look up Japanese pitch accents of a particular expression. For this to work, you have to add fields named VocabKanji and VocabPitchPattern to your notes. The lookups will be performed on the VocabKanji field, and the accents will be added to the VocabPitchPattern field. To generate pitch accents, focus the VocabKanji field and press "Tab" or switch focus away from the field. You can change both of these field names or add more source fields in the config. Configuration To configure the add-on select "AJT" > "Pitch Accent Options...". To edit the config file, open the Anki Add-on Menu via "Tools" > "Add-ons" and select "AJT Pitch Accent". Then click the "Config" button on the right-side of the screen. Usage When adding cards with Yomichan, the pronunciation is automatically looked-up and added to the cards. When adding cards manually, fill the VocabKanji field and press "Tab" to trigger generation. There's a context menu item. Select the expression you would like to look up, then right-click and choose "NHK pitch accent lookup". Alternatively, go ot "Tools" > "NHK pitch accent lookup". When using the Anki Browser, you can mass-generate pitch accents in bulk. To do this, select several notes first, and then choose "Edit" > "Bulk-add pitch accents". By default, the "bulk-add" feature will not overwrite the VocabPitchPattern field if its already filled, but you can change this by setting regenerateReadings to True in the config. If the add-on can't find any pitch accent data for the word spelled in kanji, it tries searching using the kana reading of the word. This behavior can be toggled off in settings. If the add-on detects furigana reading in the source field, it will add pitch accents for the specified reading and skip other possible readings. Pitch accent, what is that? For more information on the Japanese pitch accent, I would like to refer you to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_pitch_accent. In short, the following notations can be found:For example, a blue would be closer to h than hi. Likewise, a blue would be more like a k than ku. I can't speak for someone else, but for me, just knowing about the pitch accent and how it might affect the meaning has helped me a great deal. There are some tricky words like はし and じどう, where different pronunciations have wildly varying meanings. Aside from that, knowing about these rules might help you avoid speaking with a distinct foreign accent. Works great, thanks.

It does what it says and it's very useful at it. I specially like that it denotes the moras that are barely pronounced

Very useful, I have just used it to update a very large deck and get the pitch accent of whole sentences, which is very helpful to get the general idea of how to pronounce longer fragments of text.

I wonder however if there is some way to keep some of the html from the original field (especially line breaks), otherwise you end up having long lists of words where it's hard to locate each element.

I'm new to Anki so this took some time to figure out. I'm using the AJT Kanji Transition TSC deck. What I did was I edited all the cards in the deck so that the pitch accent would show beside the audio icon and the vocab furigana/kanji when I flipped the card. Being honest I don't really understand what I did but the cards look like I want and thats all I need.
As someone else already asked, the pitch accent doesn't show for some words, is there a way to add them manually?
Comment from author
You can copy pitch accents from Qolibri, for example.

Great work!
One side mark: Anki need to be restarted to make this add-on work.

Works well

Wow, this is amazing!
It just works, and also autofills pitch accent when Yomichan's Anki integration is used.

Wonderful. Works like a charm, especially with that bulk add feature.

Works pretty well.

Work as intended

It didn't work when I tried adding pitch accent for my vocab cards. https://imgur.com/a/OWbGZbt
The batch script also didn't work for my use case.
Though it did work when I made a completely new card
Comment from author
Actually doesn't work. I wonder why it happens.
on 1632351920
Works perfectly, thank you!

Note: I don't know if this is a carry-over from your modification of the original add-on, but I had to change my note type's name to something that contains "Japanese" in it. I'd suspect it's got something to do with the Japanese Support add-on, but I'm not really sure.

Either way, after changing it to that, it works beautifully. Thanks a ton!
Comment from author
If you use the default settings, it expects you to use a note type with "Japanese" in its name, but if you change the settings you can lift that requirement.

Great job. Does what it is supposed to without being bundled with a bunch of useless features I have no need for, but it does seem to struggle with some compound verbs like 繰り出す, amongst other things. I wonder if this is something that can be fixed? Still, at least the HTML is much cleaner than that which is generated by Yomichan so it is easy enough to add it in manually. Almost perfect.

The best pitch accent add-on for Anki.

* https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/148002038 does not work with anything but isolated words, and therefore isn’t useful for sentence cards.
* https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/932119536 does not work with new Anki versions and forms the basis for this one anyway.
* https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/278530045 is spammy, bloated and does not work with new Anki versions. I would not be surprised if it contains malware as well.

Some words were not found by the add-on, like "一緒に, 会議室, 不動産屋, 役に立つ, ウィスキー, ウェートレス, こんなに, ウェーター, ご主人, お医者さん" ¿what can be done in these cases? BTW ty for the update

Edit: sadly I don't have a personal database.
Could it be possible to add a feature to add manually the notation and also add that to the local database? If i write something manually it gets errased if I do a bulk generation.
Comment from author
The words you listed are simply not present in the databases we have. If you have more pitch accent data, please share it so that I could expand the database.

The feature to manually add pitch accents would be great. By default bulk-generation shouldn't overwrite existing fields.

btw you need Japanese Support to run this, I think?
Comment from author
The newest version of the add-on doesn't depend on any third-party add-ons anymore.

Better than the original.
