Description

Deck based on the manga Yotsuba. It's well regarded and often recommended for beginners. Screenshots Preview *CONTENT* - Japanese sentences - English sentences - Japanese and english scans side by side *THE DECK* - Japanese and English text taken from Bilingual Manga. - The japanese text is the same as the official one. - The english text is more of a litteral translation than the official one. *THE DECK* - By default, the Front Card will show you the japanese sentence. The japanese page is only here as a hint. You need the Add on. - By default, The Back card will display the english translation. Keep in mind it's not always a direct translation of the japanese sentence. - You will have the japanese and english pages next to each other below the sentence. - The website ichi.moe is directly embedded in the card style, and will decompose the sentence, giving the definition for each word. - By default the cards are ordered chronologically ("ID" field), which also contains the volume and chapter numbers. - Deck works on phone and anki-web too. - The kanji are colorized due to the javascript files. It will give you a pop-up dictionary when you click on a kanji. It may not work depending on Anki updates. - Dont forget the necessary Japanese Support add-on. *HOW TO USE* - I use this card template with the Morphman add-on and the MIA Dictionary add-on - You can use the deck without them. Fields will only appear on the card if they are filled out. - Morphman will sort your cards based on your knowledge. You will see first cards containing only one word that you don't know. - That word is automatically written in the "Target" Field. - When doing this, use the "sentence" field instead of the "expression" field for more accurate results (vocabulary only relative to the source material are in brackets and omitted). Make sure to check this box in the option of Morphman. - The card template is made to regroup decks I make from different medias : anime, video-games, manga. Within the same deck you switch from one medium to the next and see how the same "Target" word is used in different context. - If you want to separate them, the type of medium is the first letter in ID field: A (Anime), G (Game), M (Manga). - In Browse mode, (Advanced Browser add-on) I select all cards with a Target word and use the MIA dictionary add-on to automatically fill definitions of the word. - You can export the deck in text format and use it to build a frequency list. Morphman will use that list to organize cards based on your needs. - Video for more details. - If you want to display the button sound on the card (find: #Audio {display:none;} in the card display and delete "none"). - If you want to change the picture size, just change the zoom % in the template for ".ScanJ" and ".ScanE". *HISTORY* V4 - 20/06/2020 Screenshots Preview Card template updated. More chapters coming in july. V3 - 31/03/2020 Screenshots Preview ID, Chronology order merged into one field. Card template updated and simplified to suit all of my decks. Added chapters 3 to 5. Shows the same ichi.moe embed twice on the back card and has "unknown field /Screenshot" error under them.
Also, images on the back card are small-ish and I can't figure out how to scale them up.
Comment from author
Hi !
I redownloaded the deck to check and the ichi.moe is only shown once.
I use the same card template, to fit manga, anime, or games, so there's a lot of conditional formating.
Is it possible that by trying to change the size of the pictures you changed the card template ?
The "unknown field /Screenshot" problem: that's because the field Screenshot needs two brackets, like so: {{Screenshot}}, you probably erased the first one: {Screenshot}}.

I've reuploaded the deck, so the new card template is updated anyway, and you shouldn't have any problem.
As for the pictures, if you want to zoom in, don't touch the front or back template.
Check the two lines in styling (middle box):
.ScanJ {width: auto; height: auto; zoom: 125%; padding: 5px 0px 5px 0px}
.ScanE {width: auto; height: auto; zoom: 125%; padding: 5px 0px 5px 0px}
Change the zoom percentage 125% to the one you like. ScanJ stands for japanese page, and ScanE for english.
It's explained in the description on this page: "- If you want to change the picture size, just change the zoom % in the template. "

Awesome deck! My only complaint is that a few of the furigana are wrong (at least early-on). It will show one thing in the anki note, but a different reading in the manga images below.
Comment from author
Thanks for noticing. The furigana are generated automatically with the japanese add-on, and there can be some errors, so use with caution. Generally, furigana will be wrong for character's names or 何, which can be read なん but always has なに has furigana because of the add-on.

I haven't touched this deck in a while but when I'll update with new chapters, I'll check the readings as well. Ichi.moe website shouldn't have any errors though, so when in doubt, use ichi.moe.

Extremely well-done and professionally-made deck to read alongside the japanese version of Yotsuba. Hopefully the author will keep releasing chapters in this format.
Comment from author
"professionally-made deck" is nice to read so thank you.

I will update it, but I make decks as I study, and I'm focusing on grammar or anime decks rather than manga right now.

In the meantime, you could always go the source at https://bilingualmanga.com/. They have more than 30 chapters for Yotsuba and many other manga to study.

The ichi.moe lookup is great! I copied it into all my other decks!
