Good addon, but really should be updated to use the most recent version of the MeCab UniDic dictionary.
Generally, the instructions here work: https://www.reddit.com/r/LearnJapanese/comments/g8ngtm/how_did_you_guys_update_your_mecab_unidic/
Note that as of the most recent update of Morphman, you need to make no changes in that addon folder. All of those changes have been made already. So the only instructions you should follow are the relatively simple ones that apply inside of the MeCab UniDic addon itself. That's mostly just downloading and copying over the right files (but not all of them), and making sure the config file inside the MeCab UniDic addon folder is correct (which is relatively simple).
Once only the files inside of the MeCab addon folder are, no changes need to be made in the future. (You used to have to keep patching Morphman, which isn't necessary now.)

This guide for updating still works:

There is one difference when I did this though. He says you need to update a line in: "%AppData%\Roaming\Anki2\addons21\90081631\morph\morphemizer.py"
In my case this line was not in that file it was in: "%AppData%\Roaming\Anki2\addons21\90081631\mecab_wrapper.py"

Someone was asking why the spoken language version of the unidic is used instead of the written language version.
Personally I think its because of the differences that exist in spoken and written Japanese and since most people who use Anki for sentence cards are parsing subs to srs decks(which is spoken language) so it would make sense why the spoken language version of mecab unidic is used rather than the written language version. But I could be wrong.

To update: first download the 1.5gb file (https://unidic.ninjal.ac.jp/download#unidic_csj), then follow the instructions found in this reddit thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/LearnJapanese/comments/g8ngtm/how_did_you_guys_update_your_mecab_unidic/)

Is there an easy way to replace the current unidic with the newer 1.5GB one?
Also an other question: Why is the 現代話し言葉 used and not the 現代書き言葉?
Also an other question: Why is the 現代話し言葉 used and not the 現代書き言葉?

Could you explain how to update to newest version 3.0.1? (i know it's 1.5gb but i need it to be more precise, this version makes lots of mistakes)

This is good, but newest version is even better. +1 for update

+1 need to update

Neat, but the UniDic used seems massively outdated, current is unidic-csj-3.0.1 from 2019-12-17.
Instructions how this file was derived from the original UniDic (→how to update) would be appreciated.

Comment from author
The latest unidic is too large to be able to share it on AnkiWeb, there is a 100MB limit. Noted that instructions on how to update it would be useful, thanks.

It's AMAZINGLY EXCELLENT

Seemingly this is superior in parsing compared to Japanese Support and MIA Japanese.
