Answer Key Remap

<10kB. Updated 2013-07-28. Only supports Anki 2.0.x.

Description

Inspired by Kenishi's Answer Key cascade Name: Answer Key Remap Filename: Answer_Key_Remap.py Version: 0.2 Author: fisheggs Desc: By defualt Anki 2 now reduces the button count depending on card age. Cards can now have anywhere from 2 to 4 buttons max depending on age. Answering a card with 2 buttons requires you to press 1 or 2 if you are using hotkeys. This can interfere with review speed if you don't realize its 2 buttons and answer 3/4. This maps 2 button Again = 1,2 Good = 3,4 3 button Again = 1,2 Good = 3 Easy = 4 4 button Again = 1 Hard = 2 Good = 3 Easy = 4 So 1 is always Again 2 is always harder than Good (either Again or Hard) 3 is always Good 4 is always easier than (or equal to) Good Thanks to Kenishi for Answer_Key_Cascade from which this code was modified. v0.2 203-07-19 -- buttet proof lookup incase extra buttons are added

Thank you very much for bringing sanity to the review hotkeys. I've had this installed for years.

Anki's default setup doesn't make sense. A "good" button shouldn't suddenly become a "hard" button or an "easy" button from one card to the next. This addon should have been default.

- Still rocking the snappy Anki 2.0. -

Very useful.

For anyone wanting to use this in Anki 2.1:
- Copy the script for this add-on from your 2.0 add-on folder (after downloading it)
- Go to your 2.1 add-on folder, and paste the script inside a new folder with the same name
- Create a file named "__init__.py" containing the import:
- - "from . import Answer_Key_Remap"
- - Note that "Answer_Key_Remap" must be changed if you renamed the original script
- Restart Anki
- Voila

The following correction in add-on is no longer working

However to fix the issue that Space maps to "Again" sometimes, you have to add these lines in the plugin at the end:

def AKR_defaultEase(self):
return 3;

Reviewer._defaultEase = AKR_defaultEase

Note that there are 4 spaces in front of "return 3;", that's important! It's unfortunately not visible here in the comment, so please add them!

(It will afterwards show the wrong button focused, but that's probably a minor issue.)

Good idea but some issues...

I'm looking for an add-on like this one but the assignments are sometimes random which makes reviews quite annoying...

Clicking on buttons stops working after installing this addon

After installing this addon and using the fix another user provided, everything worked fine when pressing 1/2/3/4 for the answer buttons. However, the addon also makes clicking on the buttons stop working - so a new card, if you click on the "Good" button, will be considered as "Again". This should probably be fixed.

Great add on, but I agree --- spacebar is mapped to "Again" which is a bit frustrating!

Remaps spacebar to Again

Not sure why this is done, but this add-on will remap spacebar to Again instead of the usual Good. I was confused why I was continually getting the same questions and figured out this Add-on was the culprit. Please fix this behavior.
