Remembering the Kanji writings 1-3000

0.24MB. 0 audio & 0 images. Updated 2016-03-20.

Description

RTK writings 1–3000 using the keywords from the current editions: Fixes have been applied for Heisig's published errata (as of February 2016). For example, 町 matches keyword town and 村 is village. Jim Heisig owns the Remembering the Kanji series and has asked readers not to distribute his content other than the keyword lists. Using that guidance, this deck omits his primitives and stories. This deck also omits the RevTK user stories since their redistribution is not permitted (under their terms of service). You can add your stories (or stories from whatever source you like) to the story field. The kanji field uses the shinjitai form for kanji in the Jōyō list. The kyūjitai field contains official variants for Jōyō kanji. When Heisig uses a pre-2004 variant in the books, the kanji_alt field has a character that uses that glyph. The stroke field contains the stroke count for Heisig's glyphs, so it could vary from the shinjitai forms. The jōyō field contains the grade level (1–6, S for secondary, or blank). If you don't have time to complete the full set, I've included the rtk_lite_group field for filtering by RTK Lite levels. Here are the levels as I've defined them:
  • 0 Mega-lite CosCom Essential Kanji 200 with primitive dependencies
  • 1 Ultra-lite Kanji Odyssey 2001 characters 1–555 with primitive dependencies
  • 2 Lite Kanji Odyssey 2001 characters 556–1110 with primitive dependencies
  • 3 Plus Kanji Odyssey 2001 characters 1110–2000 with primitive dependencies (omits 々)
If you encounter issues or problems with the data, please post a comment.

Tis good

This is the only deck to my knowledge that incorporates Heisig's latest errata.

edit: just a few minor errors. The kanji which have an alternative form listed (not counting the kyuujitai), of which there are around five, most of them have the correct and the alternative form switched. For example, you listed 𠮟 as the correct kanji and 叱 as the alternative, when it should be the other way around. (The correct way is written with the "spoon" primitive stroke order, not like the 七 kanji). Another is the 頬 kanji, you said that 頬 is the correct while the one which uses an alternative form for the left side is the correct one when it is actually the old version. So only five or six tiny errors.

Just what I was looking for

This deck consists of the RTK 1 6th Edition kanji and ordering, which no other deck seems to do correctly. There are no stories or additional info, but these can be added manually if you need them. This is exactly what I was looking for and I'm sure many other people out there are after this as well, so I hope my review and rating help others who were going insane that other decks were in the wrong order and missing characters entirely!
