Description
I created this deck as a lazy way for me to study Chinese. I hunted far and wide for sentences with audio, collecting about 10,000. Then I created an algorithm to sort the sentences, taking the average weight of the contained words based on word frequency lists and the HSK lists. The idea is that new sentences should only introduce 1 (or no!) new words, when possible. Study new cards "in order", and the deck will take you from "ni hao" to some pretty crazy stuff.
If you are a beginner - before you study this, you should know how to read pinyin, the tones and the sounds.
If you are not a beginner - based on your level, you may want to delete a chunk of cards from the beginning.
There are two cards for each sentence:
If the question is Chinese characters, the answer is meaning in English. There is a short "silence" before the audio, so you can also attempt to read the hanzi before hearing the audio. This way, even if you don't specifically study the hanzi, you will pick some up.
If the question is English, try to speak the answer in Chinese, then show the answer, and repeat out loud in Chinese, trying mimic the pronunciation. How strict should you be when answering in Chinese? For myself, I considered any equivalent-meaning and correct Chinese as "correct". In some cards, I made notes in the pinyin field. An "also" note indicates another correct way to say something. A "no" note indicates an incorrect way. The notes are from consulting Chinese friends, so generally should be accurate.

I had to send the guy some money, this deck is better than most professional learning services I have tried out (partly due to SRS being awesome in general).
Need more like this for other languages!

To the guy below me who said "OK Deck..."

"There is excessive repetition in the sentences and the vocabulary increases painfully slowly in difficulty. In particular, I fail to understand why, in a recurring manner, I have to go through similar kinds of sentences with often literally the only difference being the use of another pronoun.
Outside of those two faults, this deck is quite fair."
all you have to do is delete the card if it is too easy for you. press "Delete" button on the keyboard. done. problem solved.
Good

I haven't used this very much so far, but my my is it ever great! The algorithmic sorting described in the blurb above is what really makes the difference. All too often sentences are sorted by size, not necessarily ease. The fact that each new card contains only one or two new words means that these sentences can be used to:
A. See grammar in context
and even better
B. Actually learn new words!
Random sentences often present too many words at once that are new, and detract from learning - with these there is no problem of that kind, all sentences are, at ANY given point, well within your range of ability, less one or two words - not 5, 6, 7. This a great. Thank you so much.
ALSO to anyone looking to remove the small delay it is in the actual card HTML not a field in the note.
Very Helpful

Im browsing this deck and find it very useful though I haven't finished read it yet.
Problems downloading?

Posted on 2016-02-27
I had trouble downloading the deck as well, but when I got the "download failed" message (after about 10%) I didn't remove the notification but rather pressed "retry". Usually it didn't work immediately, but an hour or two later it would download another 10-30%, rinse and repeat. Within 24hrs I had the deck downloaded. It's not perfect, but it worked for me. I'm using UC
browser.
It's not really fair to give the deck a 1 star review for what essentially isn't the deck creator's fault.
Can't download, any help?

Is there any way to remove it?
Question?

Great work!

This deck is amazing, and has helped me to improve my Mandarin a lot. If anyone else is interested, I made a version of the deck that also has Traditional characters, here: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/127562610
Brilliant work

This deck deserves *way* more attention than it currently gets. It's simple, organized, complete, and will keep any Chinese learner occupied for quite literally years of study.
One piece of advice--don't be afraid to go in and change around the card and note types to suit your needs! I already had a "vocabulary" deck for academic purposes, and was specifically looking for a way to improve my listening skills, so I changed the card format to only play audio on the front side then display hanzi on the back. With a bit of creativity, the deck can work for any skill level.
In closing, just download this deck. It's a huge download, but you won't regret it.
Perfekt! Thank you

Extremely valuable

I've used this deck for over 30 cumulative hours now.
I was thinking about how I could make a deck like this, preferably without hundreds of hours of work, when I found this. Exactly what I wanted! The audio, especially, is invaluable.
I knew absolutely zero Chinese when I started. I now have about 1,000 active cards (about 500 facts, each with two cards). I did, however, already read Japanese quite fluently when I started, so the hanzi weren't that big a barrier for me.
I don’t quite use the "spoon-fed" approach; instead of reviewing straight from the downloaded deck, I found it easier to set up a separate deck and move cards from the downloaded deck to that one when I wanted to study them. This approach does add an extra step (makes it less “lazy”), but it allows/requires me to first look at cards in the browser, so that they aren’t 100% new to me when I first review them. I find this less intimidating. It also allows me to search in the browser for any specific word I want to learn early. Quite often there will be a sentence (often with a very high number) that’s simple enough for me to learn, so I add it to my review deck.
That said, the ordering of the cards is still very useful, and I mostly follow it, except for specific words I want to learn early or cards I don't care about and choose to skip.
In terms of issues, there are just a couple, but they’re easy enough to deal with.
One is that the facts can be somewhat repetitive, especially early on. Specifically, (probably because this deck was compiled from multiple sources of material) they are sometimes too similar to one another (or even completely identical) to be efficient/interesting, i.e. “What do you want to do today?” and “What does he want to do today?” and “What does she want to do today?”
In many cases, I have found it better to thin these out with some deleting rather than slog through them.
Also, the pinyin or hanzi is occasionally wrong, but it’s usually fairly obvious or trivial. Sometimes it’s minor, like a missing/wrong tone, but occasionally the pinyin and/or hanzi will have an extra word/character that’s not in the audio, etc.
All in all, I’ve found this deck to be extremely useful and valuable! I recommend customizing it and the way you use it for best results.
Amazing Deck

This deck is perfect for anyone who is now above beginner material, but isn't sure what to do next.
This deck is well paced for ramping up the difficulty of sentences. It also gently exposes the user to Chinese logic/thinking when it comes to how sentences/ideas are expressed.
If you have any understanding of stroke order, I would recommend writing down the Chinese content of the cards as you go through your reps.
When it comes to learning Chinese, this is the one Anki deck to rule them all.
Perfect

Perfect deck, I've gotten it working on my mac but I'm also having trouble getting the audio to play on my iPhone (by "trouble" I mean it won't play at all on my iphone). Has anyone else had this issue? Any solutions?
Fantastic

This is a fantastic deck - thank you very much 😀
Awesome deck !

I started learning Chinese a few weeks ago and this is truly impressive !
I just found this deck, it starts really easy (the first sentence is Ni Hao) and adds new characters gradually.
The best thing is that you learn how to read the characters, not only pinyin. And you can hear how the sentences are pronounced, it's really good.
Thanks a lot for the work you put into this !
Room for improvement, but still by far the best

Posted on 2015-05-28
My only small gripe with this otherwise amazing deck, is that sometimes you'll learn a new character and it won't show up in other sentences for a very long time, and these ones are always end up being more difficult to learn and quicker to forget than the ones that appear much more frequently. But again, this is nitpicking a deck that is far superior to all other decks available. Any troublesome cards can easily be suspended until they show up more often later to be truly easily learned.
What's so great about this deck, is not only how easy it is to learn most of the new cards, but also how many new cards per day I can have and still keep up with my reviews without feeling overloaded. This deck should make everyone seriously reconsider how languages are learned, based on how inefficient most other decks on Anki seem in comparison.
