AnkiApp Importer

0.01MB. Updated 2023-03-03.
The author has shared 32 other item(s).

Description

This add-on allows you to import decks from the copycat AnkiApp. It appears that AnkiApp started to paywall the deck export feature. So you can no longer export a zip of your cards without paying. This add-on salvages the cards from the SQLite database and was inspired by the Reddit post linked above. It can import cards, decks, note types, and media files. This extension has saved me countless hours of hard work. I cannot thank you enough for this. Really, it allowed me to use the official Anki ecossystem after years in the copy-cat application, which is filled with paywalls. I am happy to have joined the original Anki and I owe this to this glorious extension.

Worked like a charm. Thank you author! Although I'd like to ask if this add-on works on the mobile app, particularly on IOS?
Comment from author
No, add-ons don't work on mobile.

Great! I've been using AnkiApp on Mac for a while and the vision of loosing all the cards drove me crazy. Thankfully, this add-on has allowed me for the seamless transfer of the decks into Anki without paying for the export option (pathetic!).

Thank you very much! I was absolutely upset because I had no way to continue using ankiapp. Besides, I didn't know it was a copycat!
With your help I was able to rescue my data and now I can continue using it

For me on Mac I found the database under this path: ~/Library/Containers/com.ankiapp.client/Data/Documents/ankiapp and imported it successfully. Thanks a bunch!

Thank you so much for this! For those who were wondering about how to import on Mac, just look for Ankiapp in finder's search bar. The rest of folders look exactly the same. If the file you're trying to import is grayed out, give it a .csv extension then the importer will be able to recognize it.

Thank you for the info! I plan to add an option to automatically find AnkiApp's database file in the user folder and import it.

Save my time !
As many, I thought AnkiApp was the same as Ankiweb...
I'm not an expert, but I finally succeed.
If this may help some of you, here tips from a millenial who feel like a boomer on computer :
- The "Import from Ankiapp" tool was not directly available after I had download the add on. I had to quit AnkiWeb and start it again.
- I couldn't reach the "file_0" file with AnkiWeb, so I manage to find it with the explorer, then copy it on my desk. 2 secondes after, all my cards were upload on AnkiWeb.
Thanks a lot !

You are my hero! I felt like such a fool! I hadn't used Anki in 7 years and needed to study. I downloaded and started using the wrong one and only found out when I tried using the app. You saved me so much rework and most of all you prevented that company from extorting me! Thank you so much!
