Local CSS and DIY night mode

<10kB. Updated 2016-11-29. Only supports Anki 2.0.x.

Description

Read a CSS file and apply the style to all cards. The CSS file is “user_style.css” in the user’s profile directory, typically “Anki/User 1”. You have to create this file yourself. In this CSS file, when you want to override the standard style, add a ".loc" to the selector. Use ".loc.card{...}" to style the whole card, ".loc .classNN{}" to style your own classes inside the cards. Watch out for the spaces! Uses include: This now includes a switch in the View menu to quickly change the look on the fly. It adds the CSS class "night" to the cards. Users then have to add styling to change the display of their cards. NB:The night mode switch does nothing without more setup. More information including snippets of an example styling and information on the night mode, links to report issues &c. can be found at my github site. Latest update (2013-06-10): This now puts the menu items under the “View” menu. When you see two “View” menus, please make sure you update the “colorful_toolbars”/“Colorful toolbar” add-on as well. (Remember to delete the old version.)

Download

As add-ons are programs downloaded from the internet, they are potentially malicious. You should only download add-ons you trust.

This add-on previously supported Anki 2.0. You can download the last version supporting 2.0 here. As Anki 2.0 has been discontinued, no support is available for this version.

Where is user_style.css??

Couldn't find it in my Program Files or my Documents file in Windows?

Great idea.

I agree that it'd be a nice inclusion the core app.

Great Addon

Great Addon. I actually think this would be a great feature for the core application, rather than having lots of different css all over the place
