Anki flashcards deck for the vocabulary from Modern Chinese (時代華語), a recent (2019-2021) Mandarin textbook series by Tamkang University Chinese Language Center et al from Taiwan. It's a popular textbook in many language schools in Taiwan and one of TOCFL's recommended textbooks. This is a traditional Chinese textbook and for taiwanese Mandarin variety.
Terms are from .pptx slides from the book's website: https://sites.google.com/clc.tku.edu.tw/modernchinese-official/
In total the series now has 7 books with around 8000 terms. But as the slides are only available for the first four books currently, that's only what this deck covers, 4061 entries / 3753 unique terms. There are some differences because of errors/omissions in the slides.
In you are studying specifically towards TOCFL tests, this is a better series than NTNU's Dangdai / A Course in Contemporary Chinese, as the vocab here is much more closely aligned with TOCFL wordlists. In terms of levels, roughly, B1 covers L1 + third of L2, B2: rest of L2 + third of L3, B3: rest of L3, B4: half of L4 (TOCFL L1-L4 = CEFR A1/A2/B1/B2).
Card template features tone highlighting in pleco's colors (courtesy of a template from here). Taiwan Ministry of Education's Kaiti font is included with the proper standard taiwanese variants of characters - the same main learning font you'd see in most taiwanese textbooks.
Columns:
ID
: a unique sortable term key e.g. B1L16-3-1
= book 1, lesson 16, vocab part 3, term 1. You can use it to filter terms down to particular lessons you need. Terms inside a section are numbered merely after the slides and would usually differ from the books, doubly so because the books skip numbering some terms.
POS
: part of speech (reference).
Audio
: recorded audio fragments from book's audio website.
Examples
: example sentences for most terms (cloze deck: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/754185321).
Variants
: for entries with multiple variants of a term, an expanded disambiguated list as a JSON list of objects with alternatives column values. If using this deck for an automatic analysis (such as merging with other sources or your anki decks), you might find this field useful as the book is inconsistent in formatting variants.
After the file is downloaded, double-click on it to open it in the desktop
program.
At this time, it is not possible to add shared decks directly to your
AnkiWeb account - they need to be added from the desktop then synchronized
to AnkiWeb.
Incredible deck that contains everything that you would expect (pinyin, traditional characters, even sound files).
Thanks a lot for publishing
