Complete Japanese Sentences

1.68MB. Updated 2012-08-25.

Description

10,000+ Japanese sentences: starting with Japanese-English then moving on to Japanese-Japanese. This deck allows the student to learn words in context, constantly reinforce grammar and advance from beginner to N1 and beyond with (only!) a couple of years of (very!) hard work. This is ideal for someone who has just finished Heisig's Remembering the Kanji. Note: if you are spending the necessary time looking at the screen, yellow on a navy blue background is massively kinder on the eyes than black on white.

Decent deck with many errors
Posted on 2014-09-30

While this is a large and helpful deck, it is no different from most of the Anki Japanese sentence decks in that there are many typos/errors. They're mostly discernable by comparing the question and answer side of the card (it's pretty clear that "-te idesu" is wrong and "-te imasu" is correct) but still frustrating when trying to learn new vocabulary or concepts.

Additionally, at least the early flashcards are only partially in kanji. Based on the assertion that the deck is ideal for someone who has just finished Heisig's Remembering the Kanji, I had hoped this wouldn't be the case, although it's pretty reasonable for beginner flashcards.

Still, it's a solid deck with endless content. There's definitely a consistent +1 progression and grinding cards has brought steady improvement in my Japanese.

EDIT: The J-J section seems to begin around 2300 cards from the end - so it's only 8000 cards in that the deck becomes Japanese only. YMMV but I think most users will want to cut over well before then. I've done almost 2000 cards now, and it's still a useful deck despite its faults, but I wish there were a cleaner deck with more J-J content.
