This is a deck to build a memory palace for memorising the sound of any Mandarin word using the Marilyn Method by Serge Gorodish.
Serge realised that given there are only a small amount of initials and finals to any Mandarin word, it is the perfect language to memorise using a memory palace.
You should read his blog post before using this deck
http://countryoftheblind.blogspot.com/2012/01/mnemonics-for-pronouncing-chinese.html
particularly when it comes to the sounds xiong, jiong, qiong, and yong, where they are handled as in the Bopomofo system.
I have changed many of the people associated to initials that Serge uses, and you should change them to people you are familiar with.
I also changed his final category of Greco-Roman gods for representing intial+ü sounds to people I know personally, referenced in this deck as "your friend", "your brother" etc etc.
The categories, to help you memorise, are
Famous Men - standard initial
Famous Women - intial + i
Cartoon/comic book characters - initial + u
People you know - intial + ü
Places - finals
Sublocations - tone
Any feedback will be appreciated.
After the file is downloaded, double-click on it to open it in the desktop
program.
At this time, it is not possible to add shared decks directly to your
AnkiWeb account - they need to be added from the desktop then synchronized
to AnkiWeb.
