Frozen Fields

0.02MB. Updated 2019-04-25. Supports both Anki 2.0.x and 2.1.x.

Frozen Fields allows you to conveniently sticky and unsticky a field right from the note editor: OVERVIEW Anki supports sticky fields. A sticky field is a field whose value is not deleted when you switch to a different note. This can be very useful if you are making many notes in which a field either has the same value or changes very little. Unfortunaly, marking a field as sticky is quite complex and breaks your workflow. Frozen Fields allows you to conveniently mark a field as sticky (freeze) or not sticky (unfreeze) right from the note editor. It’s much more convenient than the default way. To freeze/unfreeze a field, just click the adjacent snowflake or use the corresponding hotkey (F9 by default). A blue snowflake means that the field is frozen and a grey snowflake means that the field is unfrozen. HOTKEYS CHANGELOG Version 2.0.2 – 2019-04-23 Please note that the field handling in Anki's editor has been subject to a lot of changes in recent releases. Because of that, Frozen Fields for Anki 2.1 will only work well on Anki 2.1.12 and up. If you are experiencing issues with the editor formatting please make sure to upgrade your Anki version before filing a bug report. Fixed You can view all past releases here. Breaks Note ID add-on.

I've been aware of this particular incompatibility for a few months now, but it's not something that's easily addressable: https://github.com/glutanimate/frozen-fields/issues/9
Due to the way Anki's add-on system works, add-ons are bound to be incompatible with each other sometimes. It's simply not feasible to test each add-on against its 500 other counterparts, nor is it always possible to fix potential conflicts (e.g. in case of add-ons like FF and Note ID that both target the same function).

Constantly bugging in 2.1
Comment from author
I just pushed a new release. It should fix some of the weirdness introduced in recent Anki 2.1 releases. Please update your Anki version to 2.1.12 and then give the latest version Frozen Fields another try.

A simple yet very powerful feature that should be incorporated into mainstream Anki!

There is a small glitch on anki 2.1 where the field boxes are tiny until you start typing in them but it doesn't affect the functionality of this indispensible addon. 5/5

This add-on is so useful if you have a field with the same value in multiple cards. Thank you.

OMG Thank you so much, this is extremely helpful. This really should be included natively in Anki.

wonderful add-on, exactly what I'm looking for on the web. Thank you
A suggestion, this add-on doesn't support frozen 'tag', is it able to fix?

Useful for editing cards in Anki Editor, and again if you use an external deck maker software, it's kind of redundant, but still nice to have!
on 1523577600
It's not working on the version 2.1.

It does what it says: It'll keep the contents of your chosen fields unchanged from add to add. That is, after you add a note, the contents of the fields you've chosen to be frozen will remain untouched and ready to be used in the next add.

Very Nice!Thank you!

Time-saving, useful addon, thanks

Excellent time-saver

This add-on is boost to my efficiency, allowing you to freeze fields between new notes. Works well. Agree with another reviewer that the snowflake symbol could be a little smaller; but that's just nit-picking. Excellent add-on.

This is just what I needed. Awesome!

Probably one of the most important add-ons in my daily use

Few add-ons have become as indispensable to my Anki use as this one.

Works great!

Works perfectly as described. Would be nice if the snowflake icon can be just a tiny bit smaller in size but then I'm just nitpicking. Thanks for the plugin!
