Thank you very much for this add on, it has made life so much easier with organising tags and then converting into decks

Saw the guy who down voted and your reply has brightened my day

...boogers and cum...

Thank you for introducing me to that song

Btw would deffo say you are the no. 1 dev for add ons. Thanks for all your work, has completely changed my anki experience in so many ways
Comment from author
Thanks for the encouragement. The current no.1 should be foosoft, probably wipe the floor with the rest of us if he was serious. Study his beautiful design patterns if you're into coding.

Being no.1 would be nice and allow me to have a say in anki's algorithms. But I gave up on that idea. Writing my own IR-SRS and owning the copyright would be better time investment wise than to deal with someone else's API changes on every upgrade. It's just not worth it.

Rating positive because the dude below rated negative for an absurdly dumb reason

The best addon on the market, easily.
on 1594383879
Really phenomenal add-on. Even the beta seems pretty stable and can deal with thousands of tags pretty damn fast. The edits to the browser windows are clean. Dev is a legend!
on 1592738690
Thanks alot man. I was just looking for something to move tags into one head tag (thats free too unlike better tags :) ) and finally after an hour search found this. Thanks Again.
on 1592105047
Very useful! Is there a way to tweak the code so that everything is collapsed by default?
Comment from author
I can't recall the code after a long gap and multiple patches, will look into this for you later. (See the things I do for you....)
on 1591704065
Would it be possible to update this for 2.1.26? Thanks
Comment from author
I still have a few things I want to take care of... Just grab it off github.
on 1589055168
Hi! Would it be possible to make it so that converting tags to subdecks won't delete the tag? Thanks!
Comment from author before post was edited
Show all options will be added in the next release. Everything should work perfectly on Windows, unless there is an addon conflict. I can not debug it without more info from you, so you need to start a bug report with more details.

Thank you, it is a great Add-on. I want to ask that what is the difference between "Rename Leaf" and "Rename Branch" in the Tag browser? , it seems to me that, it is the same when I use the same name, so I don't know the difference? Thank you!
Comment from author
aaa::bbb::ccc

rename leaf changes the ccc part. rename branch changes the whole thing.

Any chance you can make this compatible with Glutanimate's BetterTags? There are some features of yours I would like to include that he doesn't, but I also like the functionality of his as well.
Comment from author
That would be like putting on blindfolds and playing darts. There's no guarantee I won't poke someone in the eye. And that's not something I want to take responsibility for.

To elaborate, the source code must be available for both addons to keep the projects in sync as anki's code changes, small altercations could cause problems with the other party taking the blame. Arthur Milchior, one of the ankidroid/addon developer has recently encountered a similar issue here: https://github.com/Arthur-Milchior/anki-Multi-column-edit-window/issues/10

Most open source developers don't want to deal with paywall code for this reason. It is time consuming and a headache to maintain for these personal projects.

Good

really nice

Improvement on advanced browser. I've used this add-on for months and have had no issues w/ it.
1. Dropdown menus for tags
2. Able to double-click to dropdown menus
on 1582769812
It is pefpect!

but I think Shift + Right click for alternatve context menu doesn't work. I am using Mac OS and anki 2.1.15.
Thank you for all your effort!
Comment from author
7 months into the project, and you're telling me this now? I just hope this is an isolated case where the user has one of them fancy one button mouse I've heard so much about.
on 1582644447
Nice, working on Anki v2.1.19
Comment from author
Yet I am not hopeful of 2.1.21...
on 1582390312
Superb Addon. It made organizing my tags so much easier and more efficient, I'd say it's definitely a must-have for Anki!
on 1582027167
Thank you very much! ^__^ This add-on is even cooler than BetterTags. Sidebar Item Finder is just a brilliant idea!
on 1582023016
Невероятно крутой addon! Спасибо за проделанную работу.
on 1579545235
The recent update is working and has a great tag feature to grab all the cards tagged under a hierarchal tag, so you don't have to add an asterisk anymore. Great tool for organizing tags.
Comment from author before post was edited
Anki 2.1.17+ made changes to the sidebar, all sidebar addons need to be rewritten. So if you updated anki recently, you have to update your addons as well. In all honestly, I don't think you are the right fit for beta testing this addon. It is labeled as beta for a reason, and I am telling you this for your own good.
on 1579522027
I installed this and now anki crashes with an error every time I start it HELP
Comment from author
Just updated, I don't check this page, in the future use Microsoft Github like this fellow Netizen: https://github.com/lovac42/Blitzkrieg/issues/11
on 1579503035
Very nice add-on! Is there a way to create a filtered deck from a tag?
Comment from author
Those are on the todo list, but I want to make sure the framework is well tested first before proceeding to the next phrase. There just aren't enough testers.
on 1579381286
This is a fucking good add-on!
on 1579349725
Impressive. Replaces bettertags, Hierarchical Tags and Customize Sidebar. Could you conflict with these addons?
Comment from author
It will work with CSB. It will not work with HT or BT, I made sure of it.
on 1579347483
Such a good addon, thank you!
on 1579172530
Have not used it so much yet but seems great

thanks alot
on 1579022748
Incredible add-on. This definitely does not get the recognition it deserves from the Reddit community. Similar to another review, I wish subtag searching would be easier (a la BetterTags). Overall, highly recommend!
on 1578749933
Fantastic! Deserve far more upvotes!! Maybe because of the title that doesn't make it clear what it is about!

Only lacks one important feature IMO: the subtag searching feature (that BetterTags have for example). But it's still a godsend! Thank you very much
Comment from author
I had plans for something far more elaborative, but ran out of sick days to work on it last year. If you ever used a bulk renamer or mass renamer, that's the design I want to go for in the future.
on 1577658881
People doesn´t know the potential of this awesome tag manager yet.
I tested the alternatives, but this one does the best job!
on 1576551351
Works wonderfully. A very important feature that's missing however is when I click on a tag with many subtags, for example the Lightyear tag, it only searches for tag:Lightyear instead of tag:Lightyear* the way bettertags does. You have the option when we click "show all" on a right click, but this is pretty tedious. Could you add an option to make "show all" the default please? Thank you for a great add-on.
Comment from author
Shift+right click on main "Tags" for options.
on 1575838244
Works great. Thank you.

Could you perhaps include an option to specify the tag separator? I use “/” instead of “::”, so that part is not so useful for me.
Comment from author
:: is the default used by Anki, and this addon uses the Anki API to break up the subtags. Changing it will slow down the browser substantially. Anyone with more than 500 tags will see a 2 sec freeze on every operation. So no, just follow the protocol.
on 1574791058
Very good
on 1573206338
Good, this should be default sidebar
on 1569018093
Cool addon. It would be nice if there were keyboard shortcuts to delete tags in the sidebar. Also would be cool if you could select multiple tags/items at one time.
Comment from author
Shortcuts for sidebars depends on where the mouse is focused. That's the first thing I decided not to include. I have a different idea for bulk operations in mind.
on 1568619831
I like that you included a descriptive name directly in the title so more people will come across this.
It is one of the most universally applicable add-ons and adds a lot of functionality.

To everybody: check out his other add-ons; I like them.
on 1568481173
Incredible add-on, thank you.

For those wondering, it has the same functionality as Glutanimate's Bettertags but with more features with regards to deck organisation *and it remembers which hierarchical tag you've expanded after closing the browser!*. I would encourage anyone who considers Bettertags a necessary add-on to give this a go.

Edit after a few days of use: I would like to premise this small review by saying that I'm a Patreon supporter of Glutanimate, I will continue to support him and I do not wish to promote any animosity.

This add-on is simply better than Bettertags. It works remarkably smoothly. In Bettertags, there are sort of leftover lines and lagginess when dragging tags whereas this add-on works as if it is purely intrinsic to Anki.

The additional features in the decks area are powerful and I've suddenly realised how needed they were.

Upon closing and reopening the browser or moving focus from the browser, the open hierarchical tags are remembered. This may seem insignificant but when trying to organise 100s of tags, is really important.

However, most crucially, the add-on author appears to have recognised the necessity of this add-on to medical students and has not placed it behind a paywall.

This is welcome competition, an excellent add-on and just a 24 carat gold author. Thank you for your work Lovac42.

You're welcome and thanks for the in depth review. I love the details on how people are using these tools.

Is the mulva addon available on github? Do i need to compile it at all?
Comment from author
Thanks but donations could complicate things depending on your state. I appreciate the gesture though. And I'll be glad to collect my free prescriptions ones some of you get your doctor's license.

Mulva works, but I didn't think anyone would use it as it makes your notes unusable without the addon. I'll make a release on github if you still want to try it.

Edit:
There's a reason why they aren't posted on Ankiweb. You don' t need to compile it, but you do need to know how to drag and drop, otherwise you shouldn't be testing them. And please don' t use these feedbacks like a chatroom. https://github.com/lovac42/Mulva/releases

I fully agree with the person who rated before me: "Amazing, like all your other addons. Anyway I can donate to your efforts?"
