~2500 Morphological Families (~20k words)

1.84MB. Updated 2013-07-24.

Description

This deck was made using the KWAT dictionary files here: http://darkjapanese.tumblr.com/post/56290370346/mf - Go there for more information on the deck, also. Simply put, this deck compiles ~20k two-kanji compounds which are comprised of ~2500 kanji. The key feature is that the compound groups sharing kanji represent morphological families, that is, compounds which share a common morpheme. Research indicates these are powerful learning tools, and it's particularly essential to develop morphological awareness in Japanese, as it's morphographic. This lets you see the morphemes (kanji) you've learned in action in the language, and extends your understanding of the compounding schemata you hopefully learned in my MPD deck which showcases the built-in vocabulary mnemonics in Japanese: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/3138861285 It's a simple, no-frills deck. You can sort on the kanji field, or you can find groups by using the Find Duplicates feature in the Anki browser top menu dropdown.
