Browser: Table/Editor side-by-side (horizontal split)

0.01MB. Updated 2020-07-08. Only supports Anki 2.1.x.
The author has shared 70 other item(s).

This add-on allows to move the editor from the bottom of to the right side of the table. The default shortcut is "Ctrl+Alt+8" (on MacOS you use "Cmd" instead of "Ctrl"). You can adjust the shortcut in the add-on config (as well as if it's side-by-side by default). This screenshot shows the deck Ultimate Geography v3.2. The button "SearchDialog" is created by the add-on BetterSearch. # known limitations, problems, incompatibilities - Browser Maximize/Hide Table/Editor: They mostly work together but the table and or editor is not fully hidden. - Card Info Bar for Browser: They mostly work together but you have to close and re-open the info bar to adjust its width. # bugs, feedback, etc Use this at your own risk. Please do not use reviews for bug reports or support requests. Properly troubleshooting an issue through a review is nearly impossible because the formatting is limited and I can't reply multiple times. If you find a bug let me know in the official anki support forum or on github. # versions - 2020-07-08 disable for latest version of BetterSearch (because BetterSearch already moves the search bar) - 2020-07-03 option "when narrow move search bar to extra line" (default is true), - 2020-01-13 in the add-on config you can enable that if the browser window gets too narrow the orientation automatically toggles to vertical (and back if you make the window wider). To enable this function set "toggle to vertical if editor narrower than" to a number like 300. - 2019-12-25 prevent Anki from saving modified splitter so that it's not side by side after uninstalling; night-mode compatibility - 2019-12-22 initial release

Could you please help me out with the "toggle to vertical if editor narrower than" feature? I'm trying to make it so that by default, the editor is on the side of the browser when the browser is fully expanded. However, when I resize the browser window (make it narrower horizontally), I want it to switch the editor back to the bottom. I was able to do this to some degree, but it doesn't seem consistent. I tried "toggle to vertical if editor narrower than 300" true, but that didn't seem to work. This is what I currently have in the config, but as I said it's not consistent

"shortcut": "ctrl+alt+8",
"side-by-side is default": true,
"toggle to vertical if editor narrower than": 1500,
"when narrow move search bar to extra line": true

I guess that's a typo in your review? You would have to set it to

"toggle to vertical if editor narrower than": 300

But I guess that's what you mean. For most users 1500 should be too high but maybe you have a high resolution monitor.

> it's not consistent

That might happen. I release add-ons that work on my computer with my anki version with my add-on selection. If you have another OS, other add-ons, or another Anki version there's always some risk of problems - especially when it comes to UI (User face) elements. I just know that for me it works and so far I have no bug report with sufficient info to reproduce the problem so that I could fix it. I have no idea where I should start looking with your info.

"Sufficient info" means the exact steps on how to reproduce it and the anki version, your os, and your debug info which you get from the main window when you click on Help->About. In the window that opens click the "Copy Debug Info" Button and share the copied text - and if it's related to some custom config all your add-on settings (like you shared them).

When you have more maybe post it in the anki forum (on the top right of this website there's "contact author").

Nice. I too have mostly cloze notes.

I changed the shortcut to ctrl+alt+6 because I need AltGr+8 (QWERTZ keyboard).

Makes much better use of horizontal screen estate, so it should come in very nifty on my desktop. Thanks!
