This tool allows you to generate flashcards from words in a Chinese text (e.g. a book, a newspaper article, or a .srt subtitles file from a movie). This way, you can study the words from the text in advance, and then read the text already knowing most of the vocabulary. This tool works best for advanced Chinese learners who are reading either real adult-level Chinese texts, advanced graded readers, young adult literature, or similar. It may also work for learners at a lower level, but make sure you reduce the target vocabulary size to something manageable, otherwise you'll get too many flashcards and will spend all your time studying flashcards and not reading. This tool helps you hone your reading ability and increase your vocabulary size; you'll need to combine it with other approaches in order to improve your listening, speaking, grammar, etc. It only supports simplified characters right now, but I'm hoping to add traditional character support when I have time. It's only compatible with 殘體字, so it's useless

This is a good add-on, however, I wish that it had the option to turn all the characters into flashcards. After inputting the text of a novel's chapter into this add-on, studying the flashcards, then reading the chapter, I noticed that there were many characters that weren't included. Hence, in its current state, it's not very useful to me.

Fantastic add-on and easy to use!

Understood this super addon a bit deeper and now I see that the below (my previous suggestion) is already implemented.
Hence another (hopefully) wiser feature proposal:
1. Add the option to check/uncheck the decks used for the analysis made by the addon (you can have some special decks which are suspended by intent - not only because you already know these words but if you unsuspend words as you start to learn them or for other reasons).
2. Add options to choose which actions to accomplish to the generated list:
- add all items as new cards to a specified deck;
- add new to a specified deck, unsuspend existing in analyzed decks (if suspended), tag all added (new and existing no matter their status is) with a predefined tag (like book's name or other material you're studying + chapters + pages etc or maybe some other scenarios);
- add only new, don't add existing (no matter their status: suspended/buried and so on);
- export the list to a .txt file to use outside Anki.
Great idea and smooth realisation, but I'd double that:

Works great. Thanks!
It seems to filter out words that are common though. I wish I would have more control over what words I can add. e.g. force all the words to be added."

It would be just the greatest if a user could set the threshold more transparently, like, say from 'novice' (get all words) to 'native speaker' (get only highest level complexity and rare words). Grades can be specified in approx. number of words already mastered: 500, 1500, ... (like in HSK) or something of the kind

Great idea and I would say good for low to mid level ranges of Chinese. If you already know 10,000+ words then forget it the dictionary in this doesn't pick up the more obscure terms I need.

This add on is awesome, it generated and index all the words in any text file (book, subtitle, ...). I highly recommend you to set it up with Morphman, the magic will happen!
I just wonder if the author is willing to make another Prestudy version for Japanese/Korean or even English, that would be amazing and I'm really looking for it

Thank you so very very much. Super useful and worked really well!

Great addon!
But it could be improved more! It would be awesome if the user could choose the list of vocabulary he already knows no matter whether or not the words he knows are follow a frequency list! so the addon wont display known words and meanwhile and it will display new words according to a frequency list that the user can edit or customize too.... thanks

It doesn't work if you have the V2 scheduler enabled.

Great Add on!! just a question.. how can I set the traditional characters as default? When I get a card it is in simplified and when its turned the traditional shows at the bottom, how can I do it so traditional is the one I see in the front of the card?
