This deck is a collection of phrases and sentences from Pimsleur Mandarin I (II and III will hopefully be added soon). I have tried to reduce redundancy by combining words and phrases into single sentences as much as possible, which comes out to an average of about 10 notes per unit. Each note contains the following fields:
The phrase in Simplified Hanzi
Audio (autogenerated from Google Translate)
The English translation of the phrase.
The phrase in Traditional Hanzi.*
The phrase in Pinyin.*
A mnemonic / note field (mostly empty).
A mnemonic image field (currently empty).
The unit the phrase is from.
By default, each note is set to 9 card types:
Listen and Repeat
Listen and Translate
Read (Simplified) and Pronounce
Read (Simplified) and Translate
Read (English) and Write
Read (pinyin) and Write
Read (Traditional) and Pronounce
Read (Traditional) and Write (Simplified)
That is, unless you change or add card types, you will learn to read traditional, but only write simplified.
This deck was created by Caleb Plakun in June 2024. The sentences were taken from a transcript created by Eric Nishio at self-learner.com.
*NB: Both the traditional and pinyin were autogenerated; the traditional by converting the simplified to traditional on Google Translate, and the pinyin using Chinese Converter (https://www.chineseconverter.com/en/convert/chinese-to-pinyin). This means some traditional characters may be incorrect if Google Translate misread the simplified character. And it means the pinyin definitely has mistakes, as the converter did not account for tone change rules for words like 一,不,and the third tone. So when in doubt, always refer to the simplified as the correct text. For a breakdown of tone changes, you can quickly learn them here: https://www.mandarinblueprint.com/blog/tone-change-rules-in-mandarin-chinese/ .

At this time, it is not possible to add shared decks directly to your

to AnkiWeb.
